Amazon's LORD OF THE RINGS Writers are Reportedly Working in a Locked Office with a Guard and Fingerprint Scanner

It looks like Amazon Studios is taking secrecy to a whole new level with the development of their highly anticipated Lord of the Rings series.

There’s a lot of excitement for the show, which is being produced by New Line Cinema. The series is said to have a five season commitment and a billion dollar budget. There’s a lot riding on this show so it makes sense that they want to keep things under lock and key.

Amazon Studios chief Jennifer Salke recently talked to the Hollywood Reporter about the show and said that they have scheduled a meeting with members of J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate in New York to “see some art, some creative work that they haven’t shown the world yet.” She went on to talk about the security they have for the writing team on the show, saying:

“There’s a fantastic writers room working under lock and key. They’re already generating really exciting material. They’re down in Santa Monica. You have to go through such clearance, and they have all their windows taped closed. And there’s a security guard that sits outside, and you have to have a fingerprint to get in there, because their whole board is up on a thing of the whole season.”

Well, I’d love to get a look at what’s inside that room! This is like CIA level stuff or prison, I guess it depends on how you look at it!

The series is said to tell “previously unexplored stories” and those stories might be set during the second age of Middle-Earth, thanks to a map that was recently shared on the official series Twitter feed.

Star Trek 4 writers JD Payne and Patrick McKay are currently working on the show and I seriously can’t wait to see how this turns out! I’m hoping that it will be as epic as Peter Jackson’s original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
