AMERICAN HORROR STORY Season 13 Teaser Brings Back Twisty the Clown and a Lot of Familiar Faces
Afraid of clowns? Well, American Horror Story has apparently decided that’s your problem.
The first teaser for American Horror Story Season 13 has arrived, and Twisty the Clown is front and center, with John Carroll Lynch once again bringing one of the franchise’s creepiest creations out to play.
The footage serves up a twisted little reunion filled with familiar faces from across the AHS universe, along with a glimpse at one mysterious new character.
Twisty may be running the circus in the teaser, but he has plenty of company. Emma Roberts appears as Madison Montgomery, Jessica Lange returns as Constance Langdon, Angela Bassett is back as Marie Laveau, Sarah Paulson reprises Cordelia Goode, and Evan Peters returns as Kai Anderson.
The teaser also features Gabourey Sidibe, Jamie Brewer as Addie Langdon, and Mena Suvari as the Black Dahlia. Then there’s Paul Anthony Kelly, who shows up wearing a blonde wig for a mystery role that the series is keeping under wraps for now.
That collection of returning characters makes Season 13 look like it could be having some fun with American Horror Story history. Seeing characters from different chapters of the anthology popping up together brings up questions about how they’ll fit into the new story and just how wild the connections between seasons might get.
And there are a lot more people joining the nightmare. The Season 13 cast also includes Joey Pollari, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Avantika, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Frances Conroy, Mat Fraser, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Zach Villa, and John Waters, with Kelly also among the announced cast.
There’s also a different format coming with the new season. AHS: 13 will consist of 13 half-hour episodes, giving the series shorter installments and a pretty aggressive release schedule.
The season premieres Thursday, September 24 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu. Fans will get three episodes during premiere week, followed by another three episodes in week two. After that, two new episodes will arrive each Thursday, carrying the season through its finale on October 29.
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk serve as executive producers, and the series is produced by 20th Television.
After 13 seasons, American Horror Story has built up a crazy strange collection of killers, witches, monsters, ghosts, and assorted maniacs, so pulling characters from that history into a new season has plenty of potential. And using Twisty the Clown to welcome everybody back is an appropriately unsettling way to get things started.
