An Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series is Rumored To Be a Top Priority For Lucasfilm
There have been rumors of a standalone Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars film since Disney bought Lucasfilm. It’s something that a lot of fans would love to see. I know not everyone is going to be stoked about an Obi-Wan film, but it seems like the fans have enjoyed talking about it for the most part.
There were rumors that filming was gearing up to start production shortly after Solo: A Star Wars Story with George Lucas directing, but nothing has ever come out of those reports. Now today, thanks to Star Wars News, there’s a new report that is sure to get some fans excited.
According to this new report, there is an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited TV series in development and it’s the “next top priority for the Disney+ streaming service, and that it could be as many as six episodes.”
Hell yeah! I’d be up for an Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series! I just hope that they manage to get Ewan McGregor on board to reprise his role if this rumor ends up being true. McGregor has said that he would gladly return if Lucasfilm asked him, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
I’d be curious to see how they would fill a series about a hermit on a desert planet looking over the young Luke Skywalker from afar. But, here's the rumored plot summary that was previously shared for the film:
Obi-Wan is on Tatooine being an elusive hermit and stuff, but secretly watches over an infant Luke Skywalker, whom he delivered to his uncle, Owen. Tensions between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People -- headed by a ruthless war chief -- eventually brings Obi outta hiding ... and into Jedi kickass mode. Scene.
Whatever Lucasfilm ends up doing with Obi-Wan Kenobi if they move forward with whatever plans they have for him, I trust that they will do the character justice. For the most part I really like how Lucasfilm has handled the Star Wars franchise so far. While I know not everyone will agree with me on that, I’m still excited for the future of the franchise.
What are your thoughts on the possibility of an Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+?
