ANDOR’s K-2SO “Plot Hole” Isn’t a Plot Hole After All, Says Tony Gilroy
Andor might’ve sparked a few raised eyebrows from hardcore Star Wars fans recently, but creator Tony Gilroy is here to reassure and clarify some things.
At the center of the debate is fan-favorite droid K-2SO, who seems to brush off blaster fire like it’s nothing in Season 2 of the series. But for those who remember Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, this has caused some confusion because didn’t K-2SO meet his end from blaster fire during the battle on Scarif?
Yep, he did. But Gilroy has a perfectly reasonable explanation. Speaking with Backstory Magazine, Gilroy addressed the apparent contradiction head-on:
"The Rebels don't have any weapons of the magnitude and the caliber that they have at Scarif.”
So basically, it’s not that K-2SO suddenly became indestructible in Andor, it’s just that Scarif’s military-grade firepower is on a whole different level than what we’re seeing during the Ghorman Massacre.
Andor continues to be a favorite among Star Wars fans and actors alike. Recently, The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal jumped in with high praise, writing on Instagram:
"Unforgivably late to this party. The best political thriller series maybe ever?"
Even Ewan McGregor has been playfully eyeing a return as Obi-Wan for Andor Season 3, though that’s unlikely to happen, since the series was only planned for two seasons.
It’s not just the actors showing love. George R.R. Martin, creator of Game of Thrones, also chimed in recently, saying:
"Far and away the best of the Star Wars spinoffs. Looked gorgeous, Diego Luna was first rate, and there was a realism and tension to the story that was sadly lacking in most of the other spinoffs."
Next up for Star Wars is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which hits theaters next May, and Ahsoka Season 2 is also coming, but there's no release date for that just yet.
