Andy Muschietti Confirms Robert Pattinson Will NOT Be the DCU’s Batman in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD

Reports surrounding The Brave and the Bold has been buzzing ever since DC Studios announced the project, but director Andy Muschietti has definitively shut down one persistent rumorRobert Pattinson, star of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, will not be the DCU’s Batman.

During an appearance on Radio TU, Muschietti addressed the ongoing chatter directly, stating: “As everyone knows, the Batman featured in The Brave and the Bold will belong to the new DC universe.

“It’s quite obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe. However, DC and Warner Bros. are moving forward with the second part of Reeves’ Batman series, which, as widely reported, is expected to release around 2027.”

This clarification comes after weeks of speculation, sparked in part by rumors that DC Studios co-head James Gunn had considered bringing Pattinson into the DCU fold. Gunn previously acknowledged weighing the idea, but ultimately, Reeves’ BatVerse remains separate.

Muschietti elaborated on the strategic decision to keep the two iterations of Batman distinct, saying:

“Releasing two Batman films simultaneously would be counterproductive. What DC is doing is creating a strategy to ensure these two films don’t conflict with each other.”

With Reeves’ sequel now slated for an October 2027 release, fans will have to wait a while before seeing Pattinson’s next outing as Gotham’s vigilante.

Meanwhile, The Brave and the Bold will introduce a fresh take on the Dark Knight and, notably, his son, Damian Wayne, who is a “murderous tween raised by assassins” who is set to become the film’s Robin.

Muschietti went on to say: “They want to do the movie with me, and I want to do it as well. I’m eager to work on the film.”

James Gunn and Peter Safran, co-heads of DC Studios, have also expressed confidence in Muschietti’s ability to deliver, sharing in a statement:

“We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan. When it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold, there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes.”

With Muschietti at the helm, The Brave and the Bold promises to bring a fresh perspective to Batman’s world while avoiding overlap with Reeves’ dark noir-driven saga.
