Angelina Jolie Is Returning for Disney's MALEFICENT 3

Disney Studios is producing a third Maleficent movie and Angelina Jolie will return to reprise the role of the iconic villain. The news comes from The Wall Street Journal, which reports that Jolie has already signed on for the movie.

There’s no information on who is developing Maleficent 3, but the first film was directed by Robert Stromberg and the sequel was helmed by Joachim Rønning. Both films were written by Linda Woolverton, so maybe she has returned to write the script.

I didn’t really like how this nightmarish villain was handled in these movies, but they were crowd-pleasers for the most part. I just really liked this character as a villain, and the films turned her into a hero. I get it, but, the character was more interesting to me as a hardcore villain.

Jolie previously talked about how hard it was to return to play this character again for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, and how her relationship with Brad Pitt complicated matters. She said: "It was a tough time. I'd been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again."

Jolie also opened up about her early days in Hollywood and how things have changed over the years. She also says that she would have chosen a different career path if the same environment was present when she started.

The actress said: "I wouldn't be an actress today, When I was starting out, it wasn't as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much... Because I grew up around Hollywood, I was never very impressed with it. I never bought into it as significant or important."

She added: "It's part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can. I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity."
