ANT-MAN Actor David Dastmalchian Cast in THE SUICIDE SQUAD as Polka-Dot Man

Writer and director James Gunn has cast Ant-Man actor David Dastmalchian in the role of the DC comic book villain Polka-Dot Man in his upcoming film The Suicide Squad. Seems like great casting for the role. He looks like he could easily play Polka-Dot Man.

It was previously rumored that this character would be in the film, so this is obviously the confirmation we’ve been waiting for. The character Polka-Dot Man debuted in 1962's Detective Comics No. 300. “Abner Krill was a low-level crook who tried to make a name for himself with spot-themed crimes and a costume that included some amazing gimmicks, such as spots that transformed into buzzsaws and flying saucers on command.”

According to THR, “the character is said to lean into his embarrassment of his ‘lame’ abilities.”

The actor joins the previously cast Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Idris Elba, who was initially taking on the role of Deadshot before a script change saw it evolve to a new, undisclosed role. John Cena is also said to be in talks for a role. Other characters that might end up being in the film include Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, and King Shark.

While we don’t have any concrete story details, it is said that the current draft of the script could “follow the team on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. This seems like a fitting type of story for the ‘Suicide Squad’ that will keep the stakes lower compared to the first film.”

The Suicide Squad release date is currently set for August 6th, 2021.
