John Cena in Talks to Join James Gunn's THE SUICIDE SQUAD
It looks like John Cena (Bumblebee) could end up joining James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The actor is currently in talks to take on one of the lead roles.
Cena will join Idris Elba in the film along with returning cast members Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg.
There’s no word on who Cena will play in the film, but some of the characters rumored for the film include Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, King Shark, and Polka Dot Man. There’s also supposed to be a monstrous alien woman who will also appear in the film, and Killer Frost is rumored to show up as well.
While we don’t have any concrete story details, it is said that the current draft of the script could “follow the team on a mission to the Middle East to stop Onslaught and infiltrate their headquarters in Qurac. This seems like a fitting type of story for the ‘Suicide Squad’ that will keep the stakes lower compared to the first film.”
Cena has a pretty big and loyal fan base and a film like this seems like a project that he would be excited to be a part of. Who would you like to see him play in it?
The Suicide Squad release date is currently set for Aug. 6, 2021.
