ANT-MAN Director Peyton Reed Teases The Future of Cassie Lang in the MCU
Ant-Man franchise director Peyton Reed seems to be excited about playing with Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie in future MCU films. For those of you who don’t know, in the comics, Cassie becomes a superhero named Stature or Stinger, who is also a member of the Young Avengers.
He and Marvel have been planting the seeds for her future in the two Ant-Man films that have been made, which will eventually lead to future stories that heavily involve her. While talking to CB in an interview, the director said:
“Well, I think one of the things that we've set the seeds for in both movies — and I think particularly in Ant-Man and the Wasp — is Cassie Lang, Scott's daughter. In the comics, she goes on to be a hero in her own right, so I love the idea that in this movie we see that moment where she covers for Scott and stands up to the FBI agent. We see a little bit of her father's personality in her. I'm intrigued to kind of see what the future holds for Cassie.”
The director goes on to talk about the comic stories that have caught his attention, and they involve Cassie teaming up with her dad as she becomes the ant-themed, size-changing heroine, Stinger. When asked about bringing these stories to the big screen, Reed said:
“It's possible. I mean, it really is. There's some interesting stuff in the Nick Spencer Ant-Man comics where I think they're living in Miami in the comics, but Cassie is in high school, and she's having typical sort of issues that high school girl might be having, and I like the idea of Scott Lang sort of having to deal with Cassie at almost any age. I like that dynamic a lot.”
I would love to see Cassie Lang become Stature or Stinger in the MCU. There are rumors that she is already being set up to appear in Avengers 4, but those rumors haven’t been confirmed.
Do you hope to see Cassie Lang become the hero she is destined to be in the MCU? Do you think it will lead to a Young Avengers movie?
