APEX Trailer Unleashes a Brutal Survival Hunt With Taron Egerton and Charlize Theron
Netflix has unleashed the first trailer for Apex, and this movie will throw viewers into a brutal game of survival. The film pits Taron Egerton against Charlize Theron in a stripped down, nerve shredding chase set deep in the Australian wilderness.
Theron stars as a grieving woman who retreats into the wild in search of isolation, only to find herself stalked by a serial killer played by Egerton.
According to the official description, the film follows her journey into nature “only to become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a serial killer.” The trailer leans hard into that primal setup, framing the outback as both sanctuary and trap.
A sinister voiceover sets the tone, saying, “You’re special Sasha. I already know about you.” Things escalate as the hunter toys with his prey. “Danger makes you feel alive. Perfection’s the only option. But this is completely different. You think you can handle that? Run for your life.”
This film has a villain who thrives on control and psychological pressure as much as violence.
The film is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, working from a script by Jeremy Robbins, and the cast also includes Eric Bana, adding another strong presence to an already intense matchup.
Theron recently talked about the physical toll the production took while speaking at Netflix’s 2025 upfront in May. She joked about finishing the shoot with a souvenir injury from the Australian terrain.
“God, I miss early mornings in the wilderness, birds chirping, extremes babbling, and the leaves rustling as a serial killer waits for me.
“It’s actually a miracle that I’m here today. Apex only wrapped like a week ago, so I’m fresh off the mountain. I still have some Australian dirt under this pretty manicure, and my cute boot is hiding a fractured toe.”
She described filming Apex as “one of the most incredible experiences” of her life and highlighted just how remote the shoot was. “We shot in beautiful locations, deep in gorgeous and stunning rivers in Australia, is no man’s land, literally no like no man’s land.”
Theron also teased the action side of the movie, revealing she pushed herself even further this time. She said she did “some stunts and action without awareness,” and that Apex gave her the chance “to outdo the action that I did in Old Guard 2.”
The hunt begins when the film premieres globally on Netflix on April 24.
