Apparently Drew Goddard's X-FORCE Movie Could Still Be in Development

It was recently revealed by Deadpool and X-Force creator Rob Liefeld that Drew Goddard’s X-Force movie was dead at Fox, saying it was the victim of the Disney and Fox merger.

Well, it turns out that might not actually be the case. Deadpool writer Rhett Reese recently offered an update on the film and says that it will be the next film in the Deadpool franchise to be released. Here’s what he told Screen Rant in a recent interview:

“According to the chronology that we've established, X-Force will be next, before Deadpool. It's a bit of the 'Iron Man 1Iron Man 2The AvengersIron Man 3' model, in that sense. X-Force isn't being written by us. It's being written and directed by Drew Goddard, or at least that's the plan right now. We're not involved with that one. We do anticipate there will be a Deadpool 3 at some point, but it's just a little premature, because it will definitely take a backseat to X-Force for the time being.”

So, it sounds like X-Force could still actually be on the table and in development. As a fan of the Deadpool franchise, this makes me happy! I’m a fan of Goddard’s work and I’ve been excited to see how he handles the X-Force movie.

Of course, Reese could be wrong. He might not be as up to date on what’s happening as Liefeld. We have no idea how this will fit in with Marvel Studios and Disney’s plans, but… we’ll eventually find out what is really going on.

I hope it’s not dead, though! This is the one Fox Marvel movie that I want to see happen!
