Apparently The New CLOVERFIELD Film Could Be A Netflix Exclusive
The rumor mill is always running during Sundance, and the latest shared by Reliable entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider on Twitter has to be one of the craziest yet regarding the next Cloverfield film, which is said to be titled Cloverfield Station:
Overheard on the ground at Sundance: New Cloverfield movie may be heading to Netflix. No confirmation yet and I'm heading into a movie. Just passing along, since the delays HAVE been suspicious...

That's a completely wild rumor to be spreading, and if it's true, that's even wilder. Personally, I don't believe that anyone in their right minds would sell the film to Netflix unless they were given a ridiculous amount of money. 10 Cloverfield Lane made $110 million at the box office, and while I know Netflix isn't one to shy away from a high price tag...that seems as though it would significantly cut into their budget for original programming for the rest of the year.
Of course, there's always a chance Netflix paid less than that, but again, why? Right now, this rumor is just too out there for me to give any weight to, but I'm also intrigued to see if it turns out to be true, because that would be huge. What are your thoughts in regards to this rumor?
After a physics experiment with a large hadron accelerator causes the Earth to seemingly vanish completely, the terrified crew of an orbiting American space station is left floating in the middle of now-even-more-empty space. When a European spacecraft appears on their radar, the Americans must determine whether it’s their salvation, or a harbinger of doom.
The movie is being directed by Julis Onah (The Girl Is In Trouble), produced by J.J. Abrams, and it stars Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelewo, John Krasinski, Chris O'Dowd, Daniel Bruhl, Ziyi Zhang, and Elizabeth Debicki.
