AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER Re-Release Will Include Never-Before-Seen FIRE & ASH Footage and There's a Catch

Avatar: The Way of Water is heading back to theaters on October 3, and this time fans will get more than just another chance to see James Cameron’s epic on the big screen.

Each showing of the re-release will feature exclusive footage from the upcoming sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash, giving audiences their very first look at what’s next for Pandora.

The catch? Not every theater will show the same footage. There are three different clips prepared from Fire and Ash, but only one will play at each screening. That means no two theater visits are guaranteed to have the same experience, which is a clever way to keep fans talking and sharing what they’ve seen.

Fire and Ash marks the third chapter in Cameron’s Avatar saga, following the groundbreaking 2009 original and 2022’s The Way of Water. The first film shattered box office records with over $2.9 billion worldwide, still holding the crown as the highest-grossing film of all time.

Its sequel was another massive hit, pushing new boundaries in VFX with the help of Weta Workshop and earning $2.3 billion globally, making it the third highest-grossing movie ever behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.

This next installment will bring back Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña as Jake Sully and Neytiri, who now face a dangerous new threat from the Ash People, an enemy Na’vi clan. The story is expected to raise the stakes even further as the survival of Pandora once again hangs in the balance.

The returning cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, Bailey Bass, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, and Edie Falco. Fresh faces like Oona Chaplin and David Thewlis will be stepping into the franchise for the first time.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is produced by Cameron and the late Jon Landau, with Disney’s 20th Century Studios set to release it worldwide on December 19.
