AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Might Still Carry a Kang Connection Through Doctor Doom’s Variants or Doombots

The Multiverse Saga may have shifted away from Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, but it looks like Avengers: Doomsday could still borrow a key idea from the villain’s scrapped storyline.

According to new rumors, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom might appear in several forms either as multiple variants or through an army of robotic Doombots.

Internet scooper Daniel Richtman recently shared that fans can expect “either a horde of Doctor Doom variants or an army of Doombots” in Avengers: Doomsday.

If that’s true, Marvel could be reworking concepts originally tied to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which was supposed to showcase multiple versions of Kang.

In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the post-credits scene teased the Council of Kangs, Immortus, Scarlet Centurion, and Rama-Tut, all poised to shape the multiversal conflict.

While that storyline has now been shelved, Avengers: Doomsday might echo the same idea but in Doom’s own unique style, instead of Kang’s time-traveling chaos.

After Richtman’s scoop caught fire online, he clarified that fans shouldn’t jump too quickly to conclusions about Doom variants. “FYI I never said ‘Variants’ they could be that but they could also be Doombots. Who knows.”

Marvel Studios has already confirmed a large portion of Avengers: Doomsday’s star-studded cast, but details about who else will appear, and how Doctor Doom fits into it all, are still being kept under wraps.

The movie is currently set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, arriving December 17, 2027.

Whatever direction Marvel takes, the idea of multiple Dooms or an unstoppable army of Doombots feels like the perfect setup for a massive showdown that pushes the Avengers to their limits, and it will most likely lead to reshaping the multiverse once again.
