AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Post-Credits Scene Rumor Teases a New Team of Heroes
Marvel may have something interesting planned for the closing moments of Avengers: Doomsday. While we’re nowhere near getting a full breakdown of what happens after the credits roll, a new rumor claims that at least one post-credits scene was filmed during production.
The details could offer a pretty big clue about where the MCU is heading next, particularly as the story moves toward Avengers: Secret Wars.
There’s also good reason to treat anything coming out of production as subject to change. Doomsday recently completed additional photography, and the Russo Brothers have been open about allowing the movie to evolve during filming.
That brings us to the rumored post-credits scene and the character reportedly at the center of it. Scooper Daniel Richtman recently reported that the Doomsday reshoots included new material featuring Scarlet Witch alongside other characters, including Sue Storm.
It isn’t clear whether Elizabeth Olsen filmed those scenes herself or if Marvel used a stand-in. Richtman and other scoopers have also shared cryptic posts and memes suggesting Wanda Maximoff could be in some serious trouble when she appears in Doomsday.
There hasn’t been any solid context explaining what those teases mean, but another report may give us a better idea of where her story eventually leads.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Wanda is reportedly part of one of the movie’s post-credits scenes:
"They filmed a post-credits scene for Avengers: Doomsday featuring Wanda in her Scarlet Witch outfit alongside other heroes. Is she assembling a team?!"
Now that could be an interesting way to lead into Secret Wars. Previous rumors have claimed Wanda will only have a minor role in Doomsday, with Marvel saving a much more significant part for her in Secret Wars. If this post-credits report is legit, the scene could mark the moment her larger story begins.
There’s already speculation that Wanda could be revealed as one of Doom’s Latverian Witches. If that happens, perhaps the post-credits scene shows her breaking free and gathering heroes of her own after discovering Doom has been using her powers.
That’s purely speculation, but VisionQuest could provide another piece of the puzzle. The series is rumored to be laying the groundwork for a loose adaptation of Avengers: The Children's Crusade.
If Marvel borrows from that story, an amnesiac Wanda could eventually regain her memories and discover that Doom has been manipulating her and taking advantage of her abilities.
Such a direction could also bring Wiccan, Speed, and other members of the Young Avengers or Champions into Secret Wars. If Wanda is assembling heroes by the end of Doomsday, it’ll be interesting to see exactly who Marvel puts beside her.
Of course, there’s no guarantee the final movie will play out this way. Joe Russo recently explained that he and co-director Anthony Russo began filming Doomsday without a completed script and continue developing their movies throughout production.
Joe Russo explained: “We always view the script as a living organism. We’re improvisation-based, rehearsal-based directors. We like to see what the actors bring to the characters, and sometimes you don’t get the actors until a few days or few weeks before you shoot them. And a lot of the time, that’s when the magic happens.”
That flexibility means scenes can change before the movie reaches theaters, so this rumor shouldn’t be treated as confirmation just yet.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
Whatever Marvel has planned for the Doomsday post-credits scene, it sounds like it may offer a big tease involving the heroes who will be heading into the MCU’s next Avengers movie.
