AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumor Reveals Which X-Men Franchise Icon Is the Movie’s MVP

One of the best parts of Marvel Studios’ Avengers movies has always been the thrill of collision. Heroes from completely different corners of the universe crossing paths, clashing, and eventually fighting side by side.

Avengers: Doomsday is about to crank that idea to another level when Earth-616’s Avengers finally collide with the X-Men from the old 20th Century Fox universe.

With Kevin Feige and the Russo Bros. steering the ship, these mutant Variants are reportedly much closer to their comic book roots. That shift already feels real thanks to the third Avengers: Doomsday teaser, which dropped some massive clues about how important the X-Men will be to the story.

The footage gave us a surprisingly emotional beat between Professor X and Magneto inside the X-Mansion, before ending on a full-on spectacle. Cyclops steps into the spotlight and unleashes a devastating optic blast while battling Sentinels built to hunt mutants.

According to long-running rumors, the Avengers and Fantastic Four don’t immediately see eye to eye with the mutants. The word is that these groups clash early on before realizing they’re facing a much bigger problem in Doom-controlled Sentinels. Now a new rumor suggests one mutant rises far above the rest once the dust starts flying.

Insider Daniel Richtman shared a short but loaded tease on X, writing, “I hear Magneto is the MVP of Avengers: Doomsday.”

If that holds true, it suggests the Master of Magnetism has a much larger presence than the trailers have let on so far. Anyone familiar with the comics knows Magneto versus Sentinels is usually next-level chaos, and seeing that scale realized in an Avengers movie would be awesome.

The idea of Magneto stealing the show also lines up with comments we heard last year from Simu Liu, who spoke about the surreal experience of sharing the screen with some true franchise legends.

“I think everybody experiences their own version of imposter syndrome at some point in their lives, and stepping onto set with some of the names that you are alluding to, I definitely felt a lot of that.

“So, yes, there was the insecurity and the imposter syndrome...but it was like, ‘That’s Sir Ian McKellen, and he’s wearing his superhero costume.’ It was such a wonderful way to meet somebody that you admire so much.

“And to get to play in the sandbox with them and, in a lot of cases, play with characters that they had developed over decades, it was just a really, really special experience.”

Hearing Liu talk about acting alongside Ian McKellen only adds fuel to the idea that Magneto could dominate Avengers: Doomsday in a big way. If the rumor’s true, Marvel might be positioning Magneto as one of the emotional and visual anchors of the movie.

Between Doom-controlled Sentinels, Avengers versus X-Men tension, and Magneto potentially cutting loose on a scale we’ve never seen before, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be something special. If Magneto really is the MVP, that alone could make this crossover unforgettable.

So, what do you want to see from Magneto when Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters?
