AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Rumored to Feature a SPIDER-MAN, but Which Version?

Spider-Man is still one of Marvel’s biggest crowd-pleasers, and while Marvel Studios shares the character with Sony Pictures, every appearance of the web-slinger becomes a major event.

Now, a new rumor suggests that a Spider-Man will show up in Avengers: Doomsday. The only question is, which one?

We already know Tom Holland will return next summer in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but reports remain conflicted about his role in Doomsday. Since Peter Parker is currently positioned as a street-level hero, pulling him into a massive Multiversal battle against Doctor Doom doesn’t quite fit his current story arc.

Still, leaving Spider-Man out of the next Avengers movie feels almost impossible. That’s why today’s tease from scooper @MyTimeToShineH caught so much attention.

They claimed, “There IS a Spider-Man in Doomsday.” No further details were shared, but the careful wording suggests this might not be Holland’s version.

That possibility opens the door for either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield to swing into action. Both actors made triumphant returns in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and fans have been hoping for more.

Seeing Maguire finally team up with the Avengers, or share the screen with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, or any of these other characters, would be awesome.

Holland’s Peter Parker is still expected to play a major role in Avengers: Secret Wars, where he’ll reportedly gain the iconic black suit ahead of Spider-Man 5. That movie seems like the right place to fully bring him back into the Multiversal spotlight, while Doomsday could feature a different Spider-Man variant.

Marvel is keeping some members of the Doomsday cast under wraps, but it will focus on establishing Doctor Doom as the MCU’s next big villain and setting the stage for a potential Secret Wars follow-up on Battleworld. With so much to set up, it makes sense that the movie might only have space for one wall-crawler.

So the mystery remains, will Avengers: Doomsday showcase Holland, Garfield, or Maguire under the mask? Whichever way Marvel goes, fans are guaranteed to lose it when Spider-Man swings onto the battlefield.
