AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set Update Teases Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter's Rumored Return
As you know, roduction on Avengers: Doomsday is well underway in the UK, and while Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm much about the movie, some interesting new details have surfaced.
According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman, a large chunk of the cast has already wrapped their initial scenes, even though the script is still being written. That might sound chaotic, but this is Marvel Studios we’re talking about here.
Richtman reports that Marvel is currently filming scenes involving Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter inside their home. These scenes are rumored to be shooting in Great Windsor Park, and if set photos drop over the weekend, don’t be surprised if the internet implodes, especially if Robert Downey Jr. is there as Doctor Doom.
This ties into earlier reports that Doom is hunting those who've tampered with the timeline, and few messed with it more than Captain America. Richtman’s report suggests Doom could be targeting Steve because of his decision to go back in time and live out a peaceful life with Peggy.
That decison opened a bunch of questions post-Endgame, especially with how Loki expanded the rules of the Multiverse.
If Doom is on a mission to confront timeline meddlers, that puts a lot of familiar faces in his crosshairs like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Monica Rambeau, and possibly Kang. What Doom ultimately wants from them remains a mystery, but it sounds like he’s not just sitting around on his throne.
As for whether Evans is really back, the actor played coy earlier this year, saying: "I talk to [Robert Downey Jr. and the Russos] all the time. It's where Pedro [Pascal] is right now. I mean, it's sad to be away.
“It's sad to not be back with the band, but I'm sure they're doing something incredible, and I'm sure it's going to be that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren't invited to the party."
Sure, Chris. We totally believe you. I was reported early on that Evan and Hayley Atwell have joined the film, but they weren’t mentioned in the big casting announcement. But, Kevin Feige said that there are more casting announcements to come.
Confirmed heroes include Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Letitia Wright’s Shuri, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man.
Other names include Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Thing, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, Danny Ramirez’s Falcon, Joseph Quinn’s Human Torch, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.
And the X-Men aren’t sitting this one out. Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Channing Tatum (finally) as Gambit are all confirmed to appear.
The Russo Brothers are back in the directors’ chairs, working from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with Michael Waldron also helping shape the story.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars will follow a year later on December 17, 2027.
