AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Test Screening Report Reveals Runtime and How It Compares to ENDGAME

Avengers: Doomsday is reportedly still clocking in at a massive runtime, and if the latest test screening report is accurate, Marvel Studios isn’t looking to make its next Avengers movie a quick trip to the theater.

There’s been plenty of chatter surrounding the production, from supposed clashes between cast members to reports about Joe Russo and Anthony Russo beginning principal photography without a completed script.

Much of the more dramatic talk has since been disputed, but putting together a movie this enormous has clearly been a complicated process.

Reshoots recently wrapped, and the Russos now have a couple of months to fine tune what could become one of Marvel Studios’ biggest movies.

According to scooper MyTimeToShineH, the rumored feud between two Doomsday stars has "been resolved" and "there are currently no issues with Doomsday."

Marvel Studios has also reportedly held another internal test screening of the film. This version apparently included the unfinished post-credits scene "that was just filmed."

Even more interesting is the claim that the screening scores are "much higher" than those for Avengers: Endgame.

Endgame became one of Marvel’s successful and defining movies. If Marvel’s internal response to Doomsday really is stronger, fans could be in for something special this December.

As for how much time audiences will be spending with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the latest report says Doomsday is "still around 2 hours and 45 minutes long," despite the Russos continuing to make adjustments.

That would put Doomsday at roughly 165 minutes, making it about 16 minutes shorter than Endgame, which runs approximately 181 minutes. It would still rank among the MCU’s longest movies, which probably isn’t surprising considering how much ground this story has to cover.

Joe Russo also recently addressed the decision to shoot while the screenplay was still evolving, explaining that this is simply part of the brothers’ filmmaking process.

"We always view the script as a living organism. We’re improvisation-based, rehearsal-based directors. We like to see what the actors bring to the characters, and sometimes you don’t get the actors until a few days or a few weeks before you shoot them. And a lot of the time, that’s when the magic happens."

He also acknowledged just how difficult it is to tackle projects of this size, especially with another Avengers movie being made alongside it.

"When you’re doing one of these movies, it’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done. When you’re doing two of them, it’s almost inconceivable. But it’s the second time around we’re doing two back to back."

A 2-hour-and-45-minute runtime could obviously change before release, particularly while editing and visual effects work continue. For now, though, it sounds like the Russos are making Doomsday every bit as big as fans would expect from an Avengers event.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18.
