AVENGERS: ENDGAME: ENCORE Gets a New TV Spot and Poster as Two Different Runtimes Are Revealed
Marvel is sending Earth’s Mightiest Heroes back to theaters, and it’s giving fans a little extra incentive to see them on the biggest screen possible.
Avengers: Endgame: Encore arrives later this month with additional material connected to Avengers: Doomsday, but exactly how much you get depends on where you watch it.
A new TV spot and poster have also been released, leaning hard into the history of the original Avengers and the emotional payoff of the Infinity Saga.
The theatrical runtimes have now been officially confirmed, and there are two different versions. Standard screenings will run 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 3 seconds, while IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings clock in at 3 hours, 6 minutes, and 14 seconds.
That gives premium-format audiences a little more than three additional minutes of footage. Marvel Studios hasn't revealed what those extra minutes contain, which leaves some fun and interesting possibilities on the table.
Anthony Russo and Joe Russo could have filmed something new specifically for Avengers: Endgame: Encore, or Marvel may have found a way to weave footage from Avengers: Doomsday directly into Endgame.
Whatever Marvel has planned, keeping it under wraps certainly makes the IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings more tempting for fans who want to see everything.
The newly released TV spot takes a nostalgic route, revisiting the first appearances of the Avengers before jumping forward to where each hero ended up in Avengers: Endgame.
It works as a quick celebration of the Infinity Saga and a reminder of just how much changed between the heroes' introductions and their final battle against Thanos.
For anyone who grew up watching these characters over the course of more than a decade, Marvel knows exactly which emotional buttons it's pushing here.
The rerelease could also make Marvel box office history even bigger. Avengers: Endgame currently sits at $2.799 billion worldwide, putting it within striking distance of Avatar and its $2.923 billion global haul.
A strong theatrical return could potentially push Endgame past James Cameron's sci-fi epic and reclaim the worldwide box office crown.
