Some AVENGERS: ENDGAME ENCORE Screenings Will Include More AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Footage Than Others

If you're planning to catch Avengers: Endgame Encore specifically for the new Avengers: Doomsday footage, you'll want to pay attention to which ticket you buy. Marvel Studios is showing a preview of Doomsday with every screening, but some theaters are getting even more.

Disney has confirmed that all screenings of the Avengers: Endgame re-release will include an "exclusive look" at Avengers: Doomsday. However, audiences attending IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings will also get an "additional sneak peek" at the upcoming Marvel movie.

So, if you want to see every second of new Doomsday footage available, IMAX or Infinity Vision is the way to go.

Infinity Vision might be unfamiliar to some moviegoers. It's a Disney and Marvel certification given to theaters that meet certain technical requirements. Screens need to be at least 45 feet wide, feature Dolby 7.1 surround sound, and meet specific brightness standards.

Moviegoers will want to look for Infinity Vision branding when checking their local theater listings. Along with IMAX, those certified screenings are currently the only confirmed way to see the extra Doomsday sneak peek.

There are still some questions about exactly how all of this bonus material fits into the re-release. Avengers: Endgame Encore reportedly includes around four minutes of additional footage, but Disney hasn't clarified whether that runtime includes both the preview shown at standard screenings and the second sneak peek exclusive to IMAX and Infinity Vision.

Either way, Marvel is giving fans a little more incentive to seek out the premium screenings.

There's also a story reason for bringing Endgame back to theaters before Doomsday. Joe Russo, who directed Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday with Anthony Russo, has explained that the Encore release will help connect the two movies and considers it "required viewing" before the new film.

Russo said: "It's gonna connect the story of the two movies. There's a natural progression from Endgame into Doomsday, which is also inclusive of all the other stories that have been playing out. I think it's required viewing for following the story in Doomsday."

That's an interesting comment considering how much has happened across the MCU since Endgame. Rather than treating the re-release purely as a chance to put one of Marvel's biggest hits back in theaters, the Russos are positioning it as part of the road into Avengers: Doomsday.

The exclusive footage makes that connection even more intriguing. Everyone who buys a ticket will get something from Doomsday, but Marvel is clearly saving an extra piece for audiences watching Endgame Encore on IMAX and Infinity Vision screens.

So choose your screening carefully if you're hunting for every possible clue about what's coming next.
