AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Will Reportedly Unleash Multiple Ghost Riders Alongside Ryan Gosling
It sounds like Ryan Gosling might have some serious company when Ghost Rider comes roaring onto the screen.
A new rumor claims Avengers: Secret Wars could feature multiple versions of Ghost Rider, opening the door for Marvel Studios to bring several incarnations of the supernatural antihero into its massive multiverse crossover.
If the report pans out, Gosling’s upcoming Ghost Rider might only be one of several flaming skulls tearing through the MCU.
MCU Film News shared the rumor on X, crediting insider James Mack as the source. Details about how these different Ghost Riders would factor into Avengers: Secret Wars haven’t surfaced, but the idea makes plenty of sense for a movie expected to pull characters and alternate realities together on an enormous scale.
Marvel Studios has already confirmed Gosling will headline a solo Ghost Rider movie planned for 2028 as part of its post-Multiverse Saga lineup. But, rather than waiting for the solo movie to introduce the character, Marvel could use Secret Wars to give audiences an early taste of Ghost Rider while playing around with alternate versions.
That doesn’t necessarily mean several famous actors will be walking around Secret Wars as Johnny Blaze or another Ghost Rider host. Marvel could keep the characters transformed, obscuring their identities and saving some of the bigger reveals for later.
Of course, if Marvel is digging through the multiverse for Ghost Riders, it would be pretty hard to ignore Nicolas Cage.
As you know, Cage played Johnny Blaze in Sony’s Ghost Rider in 2007 and returned for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance in 2012. With Secret Wars positioned as a celebration and collision of different Marvel universes, bringing Cage back for a cameo would be insanely fun.
Nothing has been confirmed regarding his return, but the possibility is certainly sitting there waiting for Marvel to take advantage of it.
However this plays out, Gosling will obviously be Marvel’s primary Ghost Rider going forward, it it’ll be interesting to see how they bring him into the MCU.
Production on Secret Wars is expected to begin following the release of Avengers: Doomsday.
