AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Rumor Reveals Wolverine’s Attitude Toward Teaming Up With Other Heroes
Wolverine may be joining the fight in Avengers: Secret Wars, but don't expect him to suddenly become a team player. A new rumor offers a fun little description of Logan's personality in the upcoming Marvel movie, and it sounds like the clawed mutant will be bringing his usual attitude along for the ride.
According to X user @JamesMackwl, Wolverine's characterization in the Secret Wars script is described as follows: “Wolverine is being described in the Avengers Secret Wars script as Hates working in a team, but he’s trying, Hates SpiderWebs, But He’s Kind.”
That sounds pretty much like the Wolverine fans know and love. He's a grumpy loner who would rather handle things himself, but when things get serious, he'll fight alongside other heroes, even if he complains about it the entire time.
The mention of "SpiderWebs" is particularly interesting because it points to some fun interactions between Wolverine and Spider-Man. Watching Logan deal with a wisecracking web-slinger will be a lot of fun!
Of course, there's still the question of which Spider-Man he might encounter. A previous rumor suggested that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man would team up for a major quest in Avengers: Secret Wars. That would give fans the chance to see two of Marvel's most iconic big-screen superheroes sharing an adventure together.
There's also Tom Holland's Spider-Man to consider, although his involvement in the movie remains uncertain. Marvel Studios hasn't officially confirmed Wolverine's appearance either, so all of this should be treated as rumor for now.
Jackman certainly isn't offering any answers. During a previous interview, the actor was asked whether he would appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. He responded: “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
He also had some fun joking about Marvel's famously strict spoiler policies: “I do have an internal chip; that is not metaphorical. There’s a literal chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I get shut down. I don’t know who controls that chip, but someone is controlling it.”
Jackman last played Wolverine in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, where he starred alongside Ryan Reynolds. The movie brought Logan into the MCU's multiverse madness, making another appearance in Marvel's upcoming Avengers films a real possibility.
Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2027, following the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has also confirmed that Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot of sorts for the MCU, opening the door to some major changes.
If Wolverine really does appear, his reluctance to work with other superheroes could make for some great character moments. The idea of Logan being stuck on a mission with Spider-Man, getting irritated by his jokes and web-slinging antics, sounds like exactly the kind of superhero pairing that could be a blast to watch.
