Awesome Godzilla Short Film Sees the King of the Monsters Battle Megalon

There are a few big Godzilla projects coming with Toho’s Godzilla Minus One, Legendary’s series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Legendary’s upcoming film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Godzilla is bigger than ever right now, and we’ve got an awesome new short film for you to watch today titled Godzilla Vs. Megalon!

The epic short film comes from Toho, and it was written and directed by Takuya Uenishi (Shin Godzilla, Monster Hunter), who also did the impressive visual effects. The short film actually acts as a sequel to Uenishi's 2022 short film Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex, and it commemorates Megalon's 50th anniversary. I’ve included the first short as well.

If you’re a fan of Godzilla, you’ll appreciate the fact that the short also contains various, classic Godzilla roars from the various era of films: At the 05:18 mark you can hear the 1962 Showa era Godzilla roar. At the 05:50 mark, you’d hear the roar from the 1989 Heisei era. You can also hear the 1984 Heisei era roar at the 08:22 mark.

The film also showcases Godzilla's awesome powers and abilities including his atomic breath, atomic pulse, atomic punch, white-hot atomic breath, and more. This is insanely fun, and the action is badass! We need more of this kind of Kaiju action in the movies!

It premiered at Godzilla Fest 2023 on November 3rd, and you can now watch it for yourself below!
