Awesome New Trailer For PROJECT HAIL MARY Sends Ryan Gosling Into Deep-Space Survival Mode
Amazon MGM Studios and Warner Bros just released a stunning new trailer for Project Hail Mary, and it delivers everything you’d want from a big sci fi adventure.
The movie arrives in theaters March 2026, and the early Hollywood chatter is that this one is something special. Adapted from Andy Weir’s novel, the film follows an isolated astronaut trying to save Earth from the far reaches of space, and the footage makes it clear that the filmmakers are aiming for something ambitious and emotional.
The story centers on Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling, who wakes up alone on a spacecraft near Tau Ceti with zero memory of who he is or why he’s there. As he pieces things together, he discovers he’s humanity’s last hope in solving a catastrophic problem back home.
The new trailer shows off that unsettling moment of realization while setting up the high stakes of his mission.
The synopsis reads: “Astronaut Ryland Grace awakens with no memory of himself or his mission. He deduces he is the sole survivor of a crew sent to the Tau Ceti solar system in search of a solution to a catastrophic event on Earth.
“In his search for answers, Grace must rely on his vast array of scientific knowledge, sheer ingenuity, and human will – but he may not have to search alone.”
The trailer reveals a bit more of his encounter with Rocky, an element fans of the book know is a major moment. Even with those glimpses, the footage still leaves plenty to discover when the movie hits theaters.
Alongside Gosling, the film features Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt, the hard edged figure guiding the mission, and Milana Vayntrub as Olesya Ilyukhina, Grace’s former crewmate. They appear mostly in flashbacks and mission prep sequences, hinting at the emotional ties Grace is fighting to remember.
Project Hail Mary is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the filmmaking duo behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, and 22 Jump Street, along with the recent series The Afterparty. This is easily one of the biggest projects they’ve ever tackled.
The script comes from Drew Goddard, known for Cloverfield, The Cabin in the Woods, World War Z, The Martian, and Bad Times at the El Royale, working with Andy Weir.
The movie looks like it’s going to deliver a thrilling space adventure and it lands in theaters on March 20, 2026. If this trailer is any indication, we’re in for something awesome, and I can’t wait to watch it!
