Awesome Trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Action Spy Thriller ARGYLLE!
Apple TV+ has released a full trailer for director Matthew Vaughn’s highly-anticipated spy thriller Argylle, and this is going to be an awesome action-packed movie! Argylle looks like it’s going to be a blast, and I absolutely loved this trailer for it! If you’ve always wanted to see Henry Cavill as a true James Bond-type character, this movie is going to give it to you!
The movie features an all-star cast that includes Cavill, Bruce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, Ariana DeBose, Catherine O’Hara, and Samuel L. Jackson. The cat in the film, Aflie, is played by Chip, Vaughn’s own pet cat.
The trailer shows off a lot of great footage teasing the story for the film and introducing us to all the main players in the story except one, which seems to be being set up for a big surprise reveal in the movie. Here’s the synopsis:
Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.
Accompanied by Aiden (Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.
The movie was originally marketed as being an adaptation of a spy novel of the same name by an author named Ellie Conway. That novel isn’t real, though, and the creative team was just having fun with some marketing. The fictional author of the book is who Howard plays in the film.
This is said to be the first of at least three films in the franchise and is set in America, London, and multiple locations across the world.
Jason Fuchs wrote the script and is producing along with Vaughn’s regular collaborators Adam Bohling and David Reid. Vaughn previously said, “When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the ‘50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
Argylle will be released in theaters on February 2, 2024.
