Beautiful First Trailer for Studio Ghibli's Final Hayao Miyazaki Film THE BOY AND THE HERON

Hey! It looks like we actually got a trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron anime film after all! As you know, Studio Ghibli had this plan not to do any marketing for the film, and when Gkids picked it up for American distribution, it was said that they would follow that strategy. Well, it looks like plans changed.

The new trailer showcases the beautiful animation and visually stunning visuals. Miyazaki hand-drew a lot of this movie himself, which is amazing. He’s been working on this film for years and it looks like it’s going to be an incredible final film for the filmmaker. I love his style of animation, I love real hand-drawn animation, and Miyazaki has been keeping it alive in its best form.

The official synopsis for the movie reads: “Through encounters with his friends and uncle, the story follows a teenage boy’s psychological development. He enters a magical world with a talking grey heron after finding an abandoned tower in his new town.”

The movie features the voices of Soma Santoki, Masaki Suda (The Backwater), singer Aimyon, Yoshino Kimura (Confessions), Shōhei Hino (As Long as We Both Shall Live), Ko Shibasaki (47 Ronin), Takuya Kimura (Howl’s Moving Castle), and more.

We still don’t know when the movie will be released, but after watching this trailer, I’m even more excited to see the film! I’m happy to see that they actually released a trailer for the movie. Marketing films is important if you actually want people to go out and see them!
