Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike Get Ruthless in Guy Ritchie’s WIFE & DOG First Teaser
Black Bear Pictures has dropped the first teaser trailer for Wife & Dog, and Guy Ritchie is heading straight into the vicious world of Britain’s obscenely wealthy elite. Money, murder, family betrayal, and Benedict Cumberbatch and Rosamund Pike looking perfectly at home among terrible rich people? Yeah, this could be fun!
The upcoming black comedy centers on the Fairbank family and the ruthless fight over who gets what. Greed drives the family and everyone orbiting them toward betrayal and murder as the battle for succession gets increasingly nasty.
The official description calls the film a "return to the colourful, back-stabbing world of the British aristocracy" and says it "follows the relentless greed of the Fairbank family and their associates who fuel betrayal and murder in the battle for succession."
It sounds a little like Ritchie taking a swing at Succession, only with his own taste for criminals, violence, dark humor, and wealthy people behaving horribly.
Cumberbatch and Pike lead an impressive cast that also includes Anthony Hopkins, Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton, Paddy Considine, and Pip Torrens.
The teaser keeps most of the movie under wraps, offering just enough of its characters, aristocratic atmosphere, and nasty family dynamics to sell what Ritchie is cooking. It doesn't need to spell everything out. The cast and premise already make Wife & Dog one worth watching.
Ritchie wrote and directed the film and also serves as a producer alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg. His long filmmaking career includes Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver, RocknRolla, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Disney's Aladdin, The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, The Covenant, Fountain of Youth, and In the Grey. He's also been keeping The Gentlemen going as a Netflix series.
Wife & Dog will open in theaters on February 19, 2027.
