BLACK PANTHER 3 Rumored Title Revealed as SHADOWS OF WAKANDA, Filming May Begin This June
Black Panther 3 is finally showing signs of life, and the next chapter in Marvel Studios’ Wakandan saga might be closer than fans expected.
A new industry listing suggests the lsequel is gearing up to start production this summer. According to a listing from the Film and Television Industry Alliance, Black Panther 3 is scheduled to begin filming in London on June 15, 2026.
While Marvel Studios hasn’t announced an official release date, a summer shoot strongly hints that the project is moving full speed ahead as part of Marvel Phase 6. Once cameras start rolling, it likely won’t take long before Marvel locks in a theatrical window.
The same listing also points to a rumored title, Black Panther 3: Shadows of Wakanda, along with a brief story description that sheds light on the film’s direction.
The document states that the movie “will explore Wakanda’s vulnerability after T’Challa’s death, with Shuri stepping up as both warrior and leader.” If accurate, this confirms that Letitia Wright is set to return as Shuri, continuing her journey as the Black Panther following the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
That direction tracks with where the franchise has been heading. Wakanda Forever ended with Shuri fully embracing the mantle after enduring the loss of both her brother and her mother.
This rumored storyline also suggests Shuri will make it through the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which follows a year later. That is, assuming Black Panther 3 is set after the sixth Avengers film, which still hasn’t been officially confirmed.
There recently been talk of potential new additions to the Wakandan mythos. Formula One star Damson Idris recently addressed rumors about possibly stepping into the Black Panther legacy.
Speaking with Variety, Idris said, “I am thankful to the fans. Of course, it's rumors, but I love that movie. I love the world.” While Shuri appears to be firmly at the center of Shadows of Wakanda, there’s still room for Idris to join the franchise down the road, possibly as an older version of T’Challa’s son, Toussaint, who was introduced in the Wakanda Forever post-credits scene.
As for the rest of the cast, only one new name has been confirmed so far, and it’s a big one. Denzel Washington is set to join the film in a role written specifically for him by director Ryan Coogler. Details about the character are being kept under wraps, but Coogler crafting a role tailored to Washington has massive potential.
Beyond that, familiar faces are expected to return. Danai Gurira is likely back as Okoye, alongside Michaela Coel’s Aneka and Florence Kasumba’s Ayo. There’s also a strong chance Winston Duke will reprise his role as M’Baku, assuming he survives the events of Doomsday.
Black Panther 3: Shadows of Wakanda is sure to push Wakanda into uncharted territory while cementing Shuri’s place as its protector.
