Blumhouse Starts Shooting WOLF MAN for Universal Pictures
Blumhouse has officially started production on its Universal Monster movie Wolf Man. Producer Jason Blum recently shared a photo of director Leigh Whannell (Invisible Man) on the first day of filming, which you can check out below.
Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner are starring in the movie, which features a script written by Whannell and Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, the latter duo previously wrote the comedic drama Dumb Money.
Ryan Gosling was previously set to star in the movie but ended up exiting. However, he is still on board as an executive producer. Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines) was also attached to direct before Whannell jumped on board.
No details have been shared about the story, but when Gosling and Cianfrance were involved, the film was said to be about a news anchorman who gets infected with a lycanthropic curse. The tone of that version was compared to films such as Nightcrawler and Network. I have no idea if Whannell’s film will tell the same story.
Wolf Man is due to be released on October 25, 2024.
