"Boycott AQUAMAN 2" Has Been Trending on Social Media
There are some fans out there who are not happy with James Wan’s DC movie Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom being released. “Boycott Aquaman 2” has been trending on social media, and other DC fans are wondering why.
Well, the simplest explanation is that fans are just being fans. They get angry over something and then set out on a crusade to boycott a film because of certain things they don’t like about it. In the case of the Aquaman sequel, there’s the controversy surrounding Amber Heard’s involvement because some people just don’t like Amber Heard.
She’s apparently not in the movie that much and hasn’t been a big part of the marketing, but people are still upset about it. Then there’s also the fact that the DC Cinematic Universe is pretty much going to be rebooted with James Gunn and Peter Safran leading the charge, and Aquaman may not have a place in that future, so why watch the movie if this it’s not really going anywhere with what’s coming next?
I don’t know, that’s the stuff that I’ve been reading, but I’m still going to watch the movie! I’ve admitted that I’m not excited about it and my expectations are super low, but I’m still going to watch in hopes that it will exceed my expectations.
In the James Wan-directed film, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all,” the official Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom synopsis reads. “This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
Jason Momoa stars as Aquaman in the movie and he’s joined by Patrick Wilson as Orm, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Warner Bros. will release the film in theaters on December 20th.
