Bradley Cooper Says He's Not Interested in Directing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Bradley Cooper just finished directing his very first feature film, A Star is Born, and it looks really good. With Marvel Studios currently on the hunt for a director to take on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, some fans have wondered if Cooper might be up for the job. After all, he is familiar with the franchise as he provides the voice of Rocket Raccoon.

When asked in an interview if he would consider it, he’s very clear that he’s not interested in the job:

"In directing it? I could never direct anything that I didn't write. No, I could never direct anything that I didn't write."

So, that’s a no then. Whoever does come in to direct the movie has some big talented shoes to fill. It’s going to be really weird seeing a Guardians movie not directed by James Gunn because it’s sure to have a different tone and vibe than we’re used to. Even if everything looks the same, the spirit of the movie may feel different.

Sean Gunn recently gave an update on the film saying that Disney and Marvel have every intention of using the script that his brother wrote. He went on to say:

"I don't really know yet what's going on with Guardians 3. I know that Disney still wants to make the movie. I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote. Obviously, that was a very unfortunate situation for everybody, most of all him, but I am also somebody who had been preparing to spend half a year making that movie and now that's up in the air."

Gunn added that he just wants the film to get made:

"Honestly, that's really what I cared about more than anything with all of this," he said. "I don't want the fans to be deprived of something that they really love and really want. I go, and I do these conventions and a really striking thing to me ... is fans are basically split into two camps. There is one group that is super supportive of my brother and range from sad to angry about what happened. And then the other half are people who don't know and don't care. They just want to see the movie."

I just hope they get a great director on board to do it. I wish they’d just rehire Gunn, though!
