Sean Gunn Says That Marvel Will Use James Gunn's Script For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3
After director James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the production on the film was shut down, a lot of fans have been wondering what Marvel and Disney are planning to do. Well, thank’s to Sean Gunn, we have an update to share with you that is good news under the circumstances.
We’ve heard rumors that Marvel planned on ditching Gunn’s script and we also heard reports that they would use the script. We haven’t heard anything definitive… until now. According to Sean Gunn “…Disney still wants to make the movie. I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote.”
This is good news, especially for Dave Bautista who said he would quit if the studio didn’t use his script. The thing is, the script will most likely go through a re-write when a new director is hired. Hopefully they don’t change it too much. Personally, I don’t envy the person who will replace Gunn because whoever it is has some big shoes to fill.
Gunn went on to talk about the situation regarding his brother saying:
“Obviously, that was a very unfortunate situation for everybody, most of all him…but I am also somebody who had been preparing to spend half a year making that movie and now that’s up in the air. Obviously, I think it’s a tricky proposition for them to find another director to step in — and also the scheduling of a lot of other actors who are incredibly busy can’t be easy. But I know that they plan on making the movie. I had not been contacted at all for a while, but I was recently contacted by Marvel saying, ‘Yeah, we do plan to make this movie. We’re just not sure when yet.’”
As of right now Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still in limbo, but I’m curious to see who Marvel ends up hiring to direct it. Are you at least glad to hear that Marvel plans on using Gunn’s script?
