Brendan Fraser and Radio Silence Kick Off THE MUMMY 4 Hype With a Theme Park Throwback
If you needed proof that the next chapter of The Mummy franchise is already off to a fun start, look no further than Brendan Fraser and the filmmaking duo known as Radio Silence.
Instead of a formal press rollout, they decided to celebrate the return of the series with something way more fitting… a trip to a theme park ride based on the movie that made Fraser a household name.
Universal Studios Hollywood shared the moment on Instagram, showing Fraser alongside directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett riding Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride. The caption read:
"Getting back into character! Brendan Fraser had a blast braving Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride at Universal Studios in preparation for reprising the role of Rick O’Connell."
It’s a playful way to remind fans that Rick O’Connell is officially back! The upcoming The Mummy 4 is set to begin filming this summer, and while Universal is keeping the story locked away for now, the returning cast already has fans excited.
Fraser is stepping back into the boots of Rick, joined by Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O’Connell and John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan. The script is being handled by David Coggeshall, known for Orphan: First Kill.
This new installment continues the story that began with The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001). But, the filmmakers have confirmed that The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor won’t factor into this new chapter, largely because Weisz didn’t appear in that third film. So in a way, this is a direct continuation fans have been waiting years to see.
I can’t wait to see what Fraser and what Radio Silence directing team brings to the franchise. I’m excited to see what kind of wild supernatural adventure the film will take us on!
The Mummy 4 is set to hit theaters on May 19, 2028.
