Brendan Gleeson Confirmed To Play The Villain in SPIDER-MAN NOIR
A few days ago it was rumored that Brendan Gleeson (Mr. Mercedes) had joined Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Sony/Marvel series Spider-Man Noir. Well, that rumor has been confirmed to be true and he will be playing the main villain.
The news comes from Variety, which also revealed the show will be titled Spider-Noir. As previously reported, the show will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then globally on Amazon Prime Video.
The series will follow an "aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”
It was previously reported that the show will be set in its own universe, and the main character will not be Peter Parker.
There’s no information on who Gleeson will be playing, but it would be awesome to see him play a noir-style 1930s version of Kingpin. But, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Spider-Noir is being developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They developed the series with the Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom will also executive produce.
Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes.
