Bruce Campbell Offers Update on The EVIL DEAD Animated Series
Last year, Bruce Campbell teased an Evil Dead animated series that would continue the adventures of Ash Williams following the events of Ash Vs. Evil Dead. When asked if the show would continue at the time, he said:
“Yeah… as an animated series. You pick up right where the show left off. You can do the future a lot easier in animation. I still sound like Ash, and you know, my voice hasn’t been as beat up as my body has been so I can still do that crap. So I’ll still do the video game. And we’re already talking about an animated [series].”
We haven’t had any kind of update on the project, until now. While speaking with Bloody Disgusting, Campbell revealed that they are still pursuing that idea and that Sam Raimi and his brother, Ivan Raimi, are currently shaping out the world. He said:
“All I can say is we’re actively pursuing it. Sam’s a busy guy. He had a big hit movie, so he’s got a lot on his plate, but he and his brother are actively shaping out the world. It’s one thing to get an animator and say, ‘Hey, animate this!’ You’ve got to know what you’re going to animate. I look forward to it, because my voice hasn’t aged as much as I have.”
So, it seems like this Evil Dead animated series could very well happen! It’s just going to take some time to get it together.
The series finale of Ash Vs. Evil Dead ended with Ash Williams in a post-apocalyptic future, which is presumably where Ash vs Evil Dead the animated series would be set. Hopefully, we will actually get to see that storyline play out!
