BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Stunt Team Speaks Out Against Joss Whedon, Saying He's a "Egomaniac"
The last movie that Joss Whedon is credited for directing is Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. He doesn’t really have any high profile projects in the pipeline, but the filmmaker has been in the news a lot lately due to Justice League actor Ray Fisher, who seems to be on a mission to take Whedon down.
It all started when Fisher renounced his support of director Joss Whedon. Fisher shared the video from Comic-Con, where he said, “Joss Whedon is a good guy and Zack picked a good person to clean up and finish up for him.” And that video came with the following statement:
“I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement.”
Fisher then shared the reasoning behind his comment on Twitter, saying that Whedon’s “on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.” He went on to say that he was “enabled, in many ways, by Geoff Johns and Jon Berg.”
I thought that after that the flood gates would open and a bunch of people that Whedon has worked with would come out against the director as well. But, that isn’t happening. At least from any actors.
During a recent interview with Metro, more allegations have come to light from a couple members of the stunt team of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The show's stunt coordinator, Jeff Pruitt, said that the filmmaker is an "egomaniac", and claims he told his now wife, stuntwoman Sophia Crawford, to end their relationship if she wanted to remain part of the hit series. Pruitt said:
"By season four I'd become fed up and told them I was going to leave to direct Second Unit on another series. The producers told me that Joss reacted as if I was having an affair or something behind his back."
Apparently, it was at this time that Whedon asked Crawford to remain part of Buffy the Vampire Slayer... but allegedly said that she had to break up with Pruitt.
"I was called into the office and I was given an ultimatum. And they said to me, 'Come back to the show, but you need to leave Jeff, or don't come back.' And so I basically started crying. And I said 'F you. That's horrible, bye."
It’s interesting that all of this is all coming up now years after these projects have come to an end. Fisher must’ve been harboring some resentment since he worked him on Justice League and with the Snyder Cut coming, he’s sharing his experience. After the interview with Pruitt and Crawford went live, Fisher shared the following.
No other big stars have spoken out against the director, and that includes anyone that worked with him on The Avengers films. No one has come to his defense either.
What do you make of all this?
