Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Successor is Officially Taking Over in Boom! Studios' BUFFY THE LAST VAMPIRE

There’s a new Buffy The Vampire Slayer limited comic book series coming from Boom! Studios titled Buffy the Last Vampire, which will tell stories set in a future post-apocalyptic timeline. The series will also see Buffy’s successor officially taking over.

The story puts the focus on Thessaly, but to her friends she’s Thessa. She stepped into the Slayer mantle from Buffy in a previous one-shot, also titled Buffy the Last Vampire.

The description reads: "Thess is all grown up, having taken up the mantle as the new Slayer. But with new responsibilities come new enemies and a mysterious clan that will do anything to get to her…even if it means using her friends as bait!"

Buffy the Last Vampire will run for five issues, and is written by Casey Gilly, who has written previous installments of the story, with art from Oriol Roig.

Gilly said in a statement: "It always feels SO GOOD to sink my fangs back into Last Vampire Slayer! For this arc, Oriol and I are bringing readers to beautiful Santa Carmen, CA, where our girl Thessaly is figuring out the life of a Slayer in her early 20s: she’s got a job at the local boardwalk, a big crush on her cute co-worker, oh—and a bunch of grizzly supernatural murders to stop. It’s been such a privilege to see these characters through three books so far and I hope everyone is excited to see what we have in store for them."

Series editor Elizabeth Brei said: "The Last Vampire Slayer is such a fun world to explore! The world needs its Slayer, and they are getting a brand new one in Thess. Her journey is one no one should miss."

Roig added, "It's awesome what Casey is doing with Buffy. Urban fantasy with monsters, magic, romance, drama... What's not to love? Getting to bring this to life is an absolute treat."

Buffy The Last Vampire #1 goes on sale in August.
