BUSBOYS Trailer Shows David Spade and Theo Von Failing Their Way to Success

A new indie comedy is on the way, and it looks like it’s leaning hard into chaotic energy and dumb-but-determined ambition. The official trailer for Busboys has arrived, giving us a first look at what happens when two guys come up with a life plan that sounds good in their heads… and nowhere else.

Directed by Jonah Feingold, this project brings together comedians David Spade and Theo Von, who not only star in the film but also co-wrote the script. That combo alone should give you a pretty solid idea of the tone you’re in for.

The story drops us into an Arizona border town where two friends, Markie and Steef, are convinced they’ve cracked the code to fixing their lives. Their genius idea is to start at the bottom of the restaurant world and quickly rise to waiter status, where they assume the real rewards are waiting.

As the synopsis puts it: “‘Some messes can't be cleaned up.’ Busboys is set in an Arizona border town and centers on two pals who mistakenly believe that becoming waiters at a local restaurant will solve all of their problems. They aren't entirely wrong, but they aren't entirely right.”

This movie seems like a perfect playground for Spade and Von’s comedic styles to collide. The trailer shows them fully committed to the bit, diving headfirst into their “master plan” with confidence that only makes things worse. The idea kicks off when they spot a hiring sign and convince themselves they’ll be running the place in no time.

"Inspiration strikes when they spot a 'Busboys Wanted' sign outside a restaurant. Markie lays out the master plan with absolute confidence: start as busboys, prove they're unstoppable workers, get promoted to waiters within days, then enjoy the supposed perks of restaurant life."

Of course, things don’t exactly go as planned.

The film also packs in a lineup of familiar comedy faces, including Tim Dillon, Bobby Lee, Trevor Wallace, and Jay Pharoah. With that group bouncing off each other, the movie looks like it’s aiming for a loose, improv-heavy vibe that thrives on awkward situations and escalating bad decisions.

Busboys will get a theatrical release and it’s set for April 17, 2026. If you’re into offbeat comedies, this one might be worth checking out.
