CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Tracking for a Big Box Office Opening

With just three weeks left until its release, Captain America: Brave New World is generating a lot of buzz and box office tracking numbers hint at a strong debut.

According to Deadline, the film is projected to rake in $95 million during its four-day Presidents Day and Valentine’s Day opening weekend.

This puts the latest chapter in the Captain America franchise on par with the 2014 blockbuster The Winter Soldier, which opened to $95 million.

For comparison, the first film, The First Avenger (2011), launched with $65 million domestically, while 2016’s Civil War landed with a massive $179 million opening weekend.

Although Brave New World may not hit the heights of Civil War, it’s looking to be a solid performer in the MCU’s Phase 5 lineup.

If the projections hold, Brave New World will cement Marvel Studios' dominance over Presidents Day weekend. As the report points out, the top three four-day openings during this holiday belong to Marvel with Black Panther ($242.1 million in 2018), Deadpool ($152.1 million in 2016), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120.3 million in 2023). While Brave New World may not reach the stratospheric heights of Black Panther, its numbers would still place it firmly within blockbuster territory.

In the film, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson faces his toughest challenge yet. After meeting with U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford in his MCU debut, Sam becomes entangled in an international crisis.

Tasked with uncovering the mastermind behind a global conspiracy, Sam must act before the entire world descends into chaos.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Tim Blake Nelson.

The movie was directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige, the movie will hit theaters on February 14, 2025.
