Charlie Cox Calls Out a Fan-Favorite DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 1 Episode as “Really Dumb”

While fans have been diving deep into Daredevil: Born Again and celebrating the awesome return of the badass character, Charlie Cox just revealed that one of the most talked-about episodes from Season 1 didn’t sit right with him at all. In fact, he straight up thought it didn’t make sense.

Speaking at C2E2 2026, Cox didn’t hold back when talking about episode 5, “With Interest,” the bank heist episode that a lot of viewers actually loved.

"I was not a fan of the bank episode in Season 1 of Born Again," Cox admitted during a panel. "I thought it was really dumb, and I really fought against doing it in a polite way.

“I did end up watching it because I had to know, because I was told that when they were testing the show it was one of the highest tested episodes of Marvel Television. And I kind of get it. It’s binge-y. I had problems with it though."

That episode drops Matt Murdock into what starts as a routine bank visit for a loan and quickly spirals into a full-blown heist. A crew is after a rare diamond locked away in the vault, hoping to settle a debt with a rival gang leader.

Naturally, things don’t go as planned once Daredevil gets involved, and Matt manages to secretly undo the crime before anyone’s the wiser.

It’s a slick and fast-paced, that a lot of fans enjoyed, but for Cox, the logic just didn’t hold up. He went on to explain the exact moment where things fell apart for him:

"There was a point, and I can’t remember what we ended up figuring out, but there was a point where they needed a key, so the bad guys come back after the whole heist, and they have a key to get to the lockbox, and during the heist they moved something from one lockbox to another lockbox.”

"Anyway, whatever happened, I posed the question, 'If they already had both keys, why didn’t they just go to the vault and take the thing they originally wanted?' Because they had both keys, because they switched the things around. The answer was a very prolonged silence until someone was like, 'Uh huh. Yes.'"

Fans might have been caught up in the tension and action, but Cox was busy trying to make sure the story actually added up.

Meanwhile, Daredevil: Born Again has moved forward, and things are getting even darker in season 2. Wilson Fisk is now running New York as mayor, tightening his grip on the city while pushing an anti-vigilante agenda. Matt is forced into the shadows, and the streets are getting more dangerous by the day.

There are also new wild cards entering the mix, including a mysterious figure played by Matthew Lillard, who’s set to shake things up as Mr. Charles.

So while fans might still enjoy revisiting that bank heist episode, it’s safe to say Cox won’t be putting it on his personal highlight reel anytime soon.
