Charlie Cox’s Wild Idea to Resurrect Foggy Nelson Might Be the Craziest MCU Pitch Yet
As Marvel fans have started to watch Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Charlie Cox has tossed out a wild theory about bringing Foggy Nelson back to life.
During a panel at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, Cox opened up about the fate of Foggy Nelson, who met a brutal end at the hands of Bullseye in the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1. Naturally, fans have been wondering if there’s any way to bring Matt Murdock’s best friend back to life.
Cox didn’t exactly offer a safe or predictable answer, he said with a smirk:
"I think Foggy should be resurrected by Elektra, and then he takes over leadership of the Hand.”
According to Cox, the lovable attorney should return… as the leader of The Hand. It’s the kind of pitch that sounds like it came out of a late-night writers’ room joke, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it so entertaining.
Of course, longtime Marvel fans know that Foggy has always been one of the most grounded and morally steady characters in the universe.
Aside from a bizarre comic moment in the ‘80s where he was mistaken for an assassin called “Guts” Nelson, he’s never exactly been ninja cult material. Turning him into a resurrected crime lord under Elektra would be a massive swing.
Still, the MCU has been leaning harder into the weird lately, and The Hand already has deep roots in this corner of the universe.
The group previously operated as a major threat to the Defenders, led by Alexandra Reid, played by Sigourney Weaver. Their return is already being teased in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is expected to connect multiple street-level heroes.
That film is also set to feature Jon Bernthal back as The Punisher, and there’s already speculation about who else might show up for the Daredevil show’s like Daredevil himself. Now, thanks to Cox’s off-the-wall idea, you can probably add “evil ninja Foggy” to the list of things fans are jokingly side-eyeing.
Realistically, Foggy’s confirmed return in Born Again season 2 will come through flashbacks. But in a franchise where death isn’t always permanent, I guess we can’t completely rule anything out for the future.
For now, Daredevil: Born Again continues to roll out new episodes on Disney+, and if nothing else, Cox has given fans a pitch they can have fun talking about.
