Charlie Cox Reacts to DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Ending After Season 3 and Teases His MCU Future

Marvel Studios is pulling the plug on Daredevil: Born Again after Season 3, but Charlie Cox isn't convinced we've seen the last of Matt Murdock.

The actor has finally addressed the show's cancellation, and while he can't promise another appearance, he seems pretty confident Daredevil will eventually find his way back into the MCU.

The news was confirmed during Marvel Television's panel at New York Comic Con, where fans learned that Daredevil: Born Again will officially conclude with its third season next spring.

The announcement was greeted with a chorus of boos from the crowd, which should tell Marvel just how much fans love this character and his corner of the MCU.

Despite the disappointing news, Cox doesn't appear upset about the decision. In fact, he believes there's still a future for the Man Without Fear, even if it takes a while to get there.

During an interview with ScreenRant, Cox was asked whether Season 3 would mark his final appearance as Daredevil.

"Do I think we have seen Matt for the last time? I honestly don't know, I'd hate to speculate, but I don't think so. I think there will be something, [it] might not be for a long time, but there are [ways] I think he will show up somehow, somewhere."

That's certainly encouraging for fans who aren't ready to say goodbye to Cox's version of Daredevil. Marvel has spent years bringing these street-level heroes into its larger cinematic universe, so it would be surprising to see Matt Murdock disappear completely.

Cox also spoke with IGN about the upcoming return of the Defenders, explaining that bringing these characters back together takes their story "full circle" and provides "some kind of closure."

When the conversation turned to whether this could really be the end of his time playing Daredevil, Cox had a little fun with the question and brought up the passionate fan campaign that helped bring the character back in the first place.

"Don't know, man. I don't know. I mean, it might be. It might be. Don't worry about Kevin [Feige]. Get the Save Daredevil campaign on the horn. Get them motivated. That engine, that won't stop until there's some resolution. That's my true superpower -- is the Save Daredevil campaign!"

Daredevil fans have already proven they can make plenty of noise when they want something. The original Netflix series was canceled after three seasons, and years of fan support helped keep interest in the character alive until Marvel finally brought him back.

During another conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Cox expressed his appreciation for the fans who made his return possible. He also reflected on how grateful he is that Daredevil was given another three seasons through Born Again, something he once thought would never happen.

While it's unfortunate that the Disney+ series is ending, it's worth remembering that Daredevil is now firmly established in the MCU. There's no reason Marvel can't bring him back for another project down the road.

With Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man 5 on the horizon, there are some pretty exciting opportunities for Matt Murdock to return. His previous connection to Peter Parker makes another Spider-Man appearance particularly appealing, while Secret Wars could offer an opportunity to bring him into a much bigger MCU story.

Of course, none of that has been confirmed, but it's hard to imagine Marvel permanently retiring such a popular character, especially when Cox is clearly still interested in playing him.

As for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, Marvel is bringing back plenty of familiar faces for the show's final chapter.

Alongside Cox, the returning cast includes Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Matthew Lillard as Mr. Charles.

Fans will also get to see the return of several beloved Marvel characters, including Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand/Iron Fist, and Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios.

Getting these characters back together should make for one hell of a farewell, especially for fans who have followed their adventures since the Netflix era.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in March 2027, bringing Matt Murdock's current television story to a close.

Whether Cox returns in another Marvel movie, a future Disney+ project, or something completely unexpected remains to be seen. But based on his comments, he certainly doesn't sound like an actor who's ready to hang up the Daredevil suit for good.

What do you think? Should Marvel continue Daredevil's story in the MCU after Born Again ends, or would you rather see the character get another series of his own?
