Charlie Cox Teases Wild Fallout From DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 Premiere Ending
The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has officially landed on Disney+, and if you’ve already watched it… then you know how it closes out. What starts as a brutal, seemingly final moment for Matt Murdock flips into something totally unexpected, and according to Charlie Cox, it’s only the beginning of a much bigger story.
Fair warning, we’re diving into full spoilers here, so if you haven’t hit play yet, now’s your chance to back out.
The closing scene puts Matt in a dire situation, facing execution at the hands of the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. It looks like there’s no way out this time. Then suddenly, everything changes.
The AVTF officers are taken out off-screen, and Matt is left alive. The only clue is a knife left behind with the words “you’re welcome” carved into it. The person responsible? Bullseye.
It’s a fun twist considering Bullseye’s history as one of Daredevil’s most ruthless enemies. In the comics, he isn’t just a rival, he’s a relentless force of destruction in Matt’s life. Which is exactly why this moment feels so wild and fascinating. Why would Bullseye step in to save him?
Cox says that question is going to drive a lot of what’s coming next, and it’s not going to be a simple dynamic. The actor tells EW:
"It's a really complicated relationship. Wilson's character this season is very confronting to Matt, who he is and what he represents and what he seems to be trying to do makes it much, much harder for Matt to out-and-out loathe him and hate him.
“That's a real testament to Dario [Scardapane, showrunner] and the writers for making the Bullseye character go down a path that is so unexpected. And it leads to some very, I think, interesting conversations and very unexpected revelations about both of those people."
That’s a pretty loaded tease. It sounds like the show is flipping expectations and pushing these characters into territory fans haven’t really seen before. Instead of a straightforward hero versus villain setup, we’re getting something messier and maybe even a little uncomfortable.
And knowing where the season is headed, Cox hints that this tension doesn’t just simmer, it builds into something much bigger as the story unfolds. It’s the kind of setup that could redefine how these two characters see each other, and how fans see them too.
If this premiere is any indication, Season 2 isn’t interested in playing it safe. It’s digging into the gray areas, forcing Matt to question things he thought were absolute, and putting him face-to-face with an enemy who suddenly isn’t so easy to hate.
New episodes of Daredevil: Born Again drop weekly on Disney+, and if they keep escalating from here, we’re in for a pretty intense ride.
