Charlie Cox's Daredevil Rumored to Appear in SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already shaping up to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most ambitious projects, but a new rumor suggests the film might be adding another fan-favorite hero into the mix. If true, this could finally give audiences the team-up they’ve been waiting years to see on the big screen.
The movie is set to throw Peter Parker into uncharted territory, including a highly unexpected encounter with The Punisher. After returning in Daredevil: Born Again and getting his own Disney+ “Special Presentation,” Jon Bernthal will bring Frank Castle into the MCU’s cinematic spotlight next summer.
While that pairing is already exciting, many fans have been wondering why Spidey’s longtime ally Daredevil wasn’t part of the lineup.
That might be about to change. According to Nuke the Fridge, Charlie Cox is preparing to suit up again for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The site shared, "A reliable source casually told me — not realizing what an insane spoiler that was. They said, 'Charlie will be heading over there to film Spider-Man.' The funny part is they had no clue I’m a fan or that I’d even care. I didn’t react at all in the moment, so if this ever makes it out, they’ll never know it came from me. And to be fair, they never actually said not to share it."
If this report proves true, it would mark the first proper cinematic crossover between Spider-Man and Daredevil. The two heroes have a long history in the comics, and they only briefly met in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Cox himself has been vocal about wanting Daredevil to join Spider-Man on screen. Earlier this year, he said, "I think it’s more possible than it’s ever been, yeah. I would love to be in one of the Avengers films, or another Spider-Man, or something like that."
He added, "For a couple of reasons. One, because over the years I have become a geeky fan of the character, and I weirdly, for the character’s sake, feel like it’d be really cool for him to get that kind of upgrade. I would also just love it in terms of what it would do for my chances of getting other movie roles. I’ve always had to fight for everything. I’ve always had to convince people."
Cox wants it, fans want it, and now the decision rests with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. Given the MCU’s current push into street-level storytelling, it makes perfect sense for the Man Without Fear to swing into Spider-Man’s world.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Brand New Day features Holland leading a massive cast including Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Thunderbolts star Florence Pugh will also appear in the film.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.
