Chilling LONGLEGS Promo - The First Time Maika Monroe saw Nicolas Cage in Character, Her Heart Rate Hit 170 bpm
A new promo video has been released for the upcoming horror film Longlegs. The promo is titled “Heartbeat” and it focuses on the first time Maika Monroe saw Nicolas Cage as the serial killer in the film.
The crew recorded her heart rate while they shot this scene in the film and her heart rate hit 170 bpm when she saw Cage’s Longlegs. That’s pretty insane!
Monroe said of the experience, “When I walked in and saw Nicolas Cage as Longlegs, that was a visceral experience I’ll never forget.”
You can see the footage of the scene below, which hides Cage’s look in the film. But, Monroe’s reaction says it all. I’m excited about this movie! It’s been a long time since I’ve watched a horror film that scared me.
Maybe Longlegs will actually deliver the terror. Maybe this will be the “scariest film of the decade.”
In the story, “As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”
Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers,” and early reviews have compared it to the classic ’90s thriller The Silence of the Lambs.
The director of the film, Oz Perkins, previously shared why they are holding back on the full reveal of Cage’s character, saying: "It's driving people towards a freak show at a circus tent. We've got the thing behind the curtain, and when there's enough people gathered 'round, we're going to pull the curtain."
Cage added: "It's the equivalent of putting a warning label on a jar of nitroglycerin. The monster is a highly, highly dangerous substance. The way it's moved, unveiled, deployed has to be treated very carefully.
“Forget about the movie theater blowing up; the whole city could blow up, nay the country, maybe even the world. He is going to change your reality. Your doors of perception are going to open, and your life is not going to be the same."
The movie will be released on July 12th, 2024.
