Chris Hemsworth Wants Thor and Storm to Bring the Thunder Together in AVENGERS: SECRET WARS

Chris Hemsworth is set to return as the God of Thunder in Avengers: Doomsday, but one major absence has already caught fans’ attention. Halle Berry isn’t expected to reprise her role as Ororo Munroe, which means we won’t see Storm in the upcoming movie.

Fans are still hoping that further down the road, that will change and we’ll se her enter the MCU. While promoting Crime 101, Hemsworth talked about the idea of crossing paths with Storm in Avengers: Secret Wars, and it’s something he’s clearly into. He said he was hoping Thor could team up with Storm “to help me summon the storms.”

Hemsworth also admitted he was disappointed Berry wouldn’t be part of Avengers: Doomsday, and he leaned into how naturally the characters could bounce off each other if it ever happened.

“I think he'd be—I think he'd be like, 'Oh, we're the same. We have something in common, the incredible wielding of the weather patterns talent.'”

Interestingly enough, Berry herself has joked about that overlap. When asked if Thor and Storm being so similar power-wise could explain her absence from the cast, the Oscar winner offered a playful take, saying: “Maybe that's why she's not there. They don't need her.”

Behind the scenes, there’s been talk that story decisions aren’t the only factor keeping characters like Storm and Jean Grey on the sidelines. Contract negotiations with returning X-Men actors may not have lined up, and when you’re talking about a movie as massive and expensive as Avengers: Doomsday, paying top dollar for brief appearances likely isn’t high on the priority list.

Even so, it’s hard not to get excited imagining what Marvel could pull off in Avengers: Secret Wars. Thor and Storm standing side by side, trading lightning and thunder, would be pure awesome comic-book insanity.

If Marvel Studios is looking for a crowd-pleasing, goosebump-inducing team-up, the God of Thunder and the X-Men’s weather goddess feel like a no-brainer.
