Chris Pine Reportedly Being Eyed for Patty Jenkins’ STAR WARS: ROGUE SQUADRON

Chris Pine is reportedly in the running for the lead role in director Patty JenkinsStar Wars: Rogue Squadron. The duo previously worked together on Wonder Woman and its sequel, and it would be interesting to see Pine jump from Star Trek to Star Wars.

The rumor comes from Industry insider MyTimeToShineHello, who shared on X: “Chris Pine eyed for lead in the movie Star Wars: Rogue Squadron that is back in development.”

While there’s no official confirmation from Lucasfilm, the prospect of Pine stepping into the Star Wars universe feels like a natural fit for the actor. The question is, would fans be interested in seeing Pine jump into the Star Wars universe?

This project itself has been a rough and long road. It was initially announced in December 2020 and was described as a “high-speed thrill-ride” introducing a “new generation of starfighter pilots.”

Jenkins was looking to push boundaries while steering the saga into fresh territory. However, development hit a snag in 2021 when Jenkins shifted focus to other commitments, including Wonder Woman 3.

In a previous interview, Jenkins revealed how her schedule impacted the film’s timeline. “When I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3, we talked about, ‘Well, maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3.’”

With Wonder Woman 3 now shelved, Jenkins has re-engaged with Lucasfilm. “I now owe a draft of Star Wars. So we will see what happens there. We need to get it to where we’re both super happy with it.”

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also addressed the film’s status back in 2023, hinting that Rogue Squadron could evolve into a TV series. Regardless of format, the project is moving forward.

What do you think about the possibility of Chris Pine joining Star Wars: Rogue One?
