Chris Pratt Says GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Starts Shooting in January and Hopes it's Not The Last of Him
One of the few films that we know is definitely coming after Avengers 4 is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This will be the final part of a planned trilogy that James Gunn has been planning, and now thanks to Chris Pratt, we know when the film goes into production.
When asked by MTV what Star-Lord's been doing between Infinity War and Avengers 4, the actor revealed that that Vol. 3 would start shooting in January and that he hopes it's not the last we'll see of Star-Lord. Pratt said:
"You'll know once you see part 2. I'm slated to film Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in January, so we don't know yet time-wise where that lines up. I'm hoping it's not the last you see of me but I can't be sure."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will most like be released in 2020. It would have to be shortly after Avengers 4 because Gunn has said in the past that it will launch the beginning of a whole new Marvel cosmic cinematic universe. He explained:
"When we’re talking about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and that story, that’s a story that will lead to other stories. It’s innate to the DNA that that’s the end of a trilogy but it’s the beginning of a whole other element of the Marvel Cosmic universe."
Gunn previously said this third film in the series would not be like the first two. He explained that it's going to be a different kind of movie.
"It's very, very, very different. Very different, but I won't say how! You'll have to wait to see the movie, it's a long time away."
I imagine that difference will come from the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. After all, the only Guardians characters that were left alive was Rocket Raccoon and Nebula. We also assume that the events of Avengers 4 will bring back some of the other characters but we don't know how that is going to go down or the effect that it will have on them. It seems like it will be a big enough change for Gunn to say that it's going to be a very, very, very different film.
As for whether or not Vol. 3 will be the last we see of Star-Lord has yet to be seen. I hope it's not! I really love that character.
What do you all think Gunn is planning for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? What do you think will make it different?
