Christian Slater Cast in DEXTER Prequel Series DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN
The Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, currently in development at Paramount+ with Showtime has cast its three leads. Christian Slater (Mr. Robot), Patrick Gibson (Shadow and Bone), and Molly Brown (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Evil) are all set to star in the show.
Gibson will take on the role of Dexter Morgan, Slater will play his adoptive father Harry Morgan, and Brown will play Dexter’s sister Debra Morgan. The three roles were previously played by Michael C. Hall, James Remar, and Jennifer Carpenter.
The 10-episode prequel is set in 1991, 15 years before the events of Dexter. The story “follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.
“With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcements’ radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”
The original showrunner and executive producer on Dexter, Clyde Phillips, returns in that role for the new series. Hall is also an executive producer on the series.
Michael Lehmann, the director of Heathers, will serve as director and executive producer. Robert Lloyd Lewis is a producer on the series.
Dexter’s past is an interesting and very complicated one and I like that it will be explored in detail in this new series. As a fan of Dexter, I’ll be looking forward to watching this! It certainly has a great cast!
